What does The 'Houndog' actually do in that shop of his?

(We've actually been asking that for years now!)

  Guitar setup:

 can include things like:

Neck and string adjustment. Is the action optimized for your preferences?  Do your bends "buzz out" in certain areas of the neck?  Is the neck visibly in need of straightening?

Other setup compnents. String gauge, nut height and material, bridge and saddle height, pickup height.

Adjust for proper intonation. Musicians generally have good ears.  Does your guitar sound right to you regardless of where you play that signature lick?  Does it sound right in the bottom third of the neck, but not in the top ?  Chances are your instrument's intonation needs some adjustment.

  Fret Work:
leveling and crowning Need touch up to the frets here and there.  Some wear is showing but you haven't neglected the instrument for the last twenty years and there's enough material left to allow re-dressing.

re-fretting You've neglected the instrument for the last twenty years OR you've played the heck out of it and have had previous leveling/re-crowning done ... The frets are uneven and worn, in need of replacement.

Pickups: Looking for a new sound?  Hotter pickups maybe?  Different pickups can really change things and may give that instrument the desired sound.

  Finishes:
touch up Have a few unintended reminders of gigs that you'd rather forget?  Many things can be fixed completely or made less noticeable.

relic work Want to add mojo to your instrument but want to cheat Father Time?  There's sometimes a shorter route to that look you'd like your instrument to have.

Repairs: Did you break your guitar's neck in a car accident instead of your own?  Yes, that can be fixed!  The guitar, that is ...
